THE PROBLEM OF GRAIN RUSTS,

Abstract

The author discusses measures taken in the USSR to combat rusts in grain crops. It is concluded that the most important tasks include: development of resistant plants; study of the genetic, biochemical and physiological basis of immunity to rusts in grain cultures; the discovery of patterns of outbreaks of the disease and improvement of mathematical means of predicting development of rusts; development of better fungicides; and adoption of zonal systems of protective measures.
