STRUCTURAL SCHEME OF THE EARTH'S CRUST OF THE URALS FROM GRAVIMETRIC DATA (Strukturnaya Skhema Zemnoi Kory Urala po Gravimetricheskim Dannym),

Abstract

The report is a discussion of the gravimetric investigations dealing with the Urals. It is indicated that the gravity anomalies within the limits of the exposed parts of the Urals are primarily connected with nonuniformities in the composition of the upper part of the crust. The most intensive positive anomalies are caused cy considerable masses of rocks of basic composition reaching great depths, and negative anomalies are primarily caused by thick granitic intrusions and sedimentary series of the Sub-Ural trough. Considerable horizontal non-uniformities are smoothed out in the lower part of the earth's crust. (Author)
