SYNTHESIS OF HEAT-RESISTANT POLYMERS CONTAINING A SYMMETRICAL TRIAZINE CYCLE,

Abstract

The method of high-temperature polycondensation was used to obtain a whole series of polyphenylene-sym-triazinyl esters on the basis of cyanuric chloride, its aryl-amino substitute, and bis-phenols. It was found that the basic process of polycondensation of arylamino substitutes of cyanuric chloride with bisphenols is accompanied by a side reaction of homocondensation of the aryl-amino substitutes of the cyanuric chloride. Some properties of the synthesized polyphenylene-sym-triazinyl esters are described. Low-molecular polymers were synthesized by homocondensation of 2-phenyl-amino-4.6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine and 2-phenylamine-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-trizine. Polyphenylene-sym-triazinyl esters found practical use as hardeners of epoxy resins. (Author)
