THE ARITHMETIC UNIT OF A SPECIAL PURPOSE FERRITE CORE DIGITAL COMPUTER,

Abstract

The computer is used for solving algebraic and transcendental equations and for real time integration. It operates under complex temperature conditions. The arithmetic unit performs addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculation of moduli, logic multiplication, and assigns signs. The arithmetic unit consists of an adder and a self-contained control unit which simplifies the adjustment and maintenance of the machine and makes it possible to perform combined operations. The arithmetic unit has been successfully tested while adjusting and investigating the breadboard model of the specialized computer.
