MORPHOLOGY AND GENESIS OF GLACIERS IN CENTRAL TRANSBAYKALIYA,

Abstract

The morphology and genesis of ice formations in Central Transbaykaliya are discussed. The author classifies two types of ice formations which are prevalent in Central Transbaykaliya: channel ice formations, which occur on rivers and streams; ground ice formations, which are derived from two types of ground waters, specifically, sub-frozen ground waters and above-frozen ground waters. The author also describes means by which the various types of ice formations can be identified and predicted. (Author)
