ATLAS OF ASIA AND EASTERN EUROPE TO SUPPORT DETECTION OF UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR TESTING. VOLUME II. TECTONICS,

Abstract

The structure of the earth's crust is here depicted on a tectonic map at the scale of 1:5,000,000. The continental area has been divided into principal regions on the basis of major differences in the state of tectonic mobility. These principal regions are named and outlined on a separate index map at the scale of 1:20,000,000. Their tectonic history and the nature and structure of the rocks within them are summarized in a brief accompanying text. The principal regions are further subdivided into regions on the basis of gross differences in physiography and structure. The regions are named on the tectonic map and their configurations are recognizable by the distribution of map units. The rock units and tectonic features are shown in outcrop position as indicated in the geologic source material available in 1965. (Author)
