X-RADIOGRAPHY OF UNOPENED SOIL CORES.

Abstract

Experiments with X-radiography of undisturbed soil cores, sealed in paraffin within cardboard cylinders of about six-inch diameter, and of slices cut from these cores, indicate that features such as composition, stratification, roots, fractures, and some secondary mineralization are readily identifiable. It is believed, from these results, that radiography may be developed for rapid scanning of unopened soil cores. (Author)
