COMPARATIVE STUDY OF LANGUAGES FOR PROGRAMMING INTERACTIVE USE OF COMPUTERS IN INSTRUCTION.

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to assess how well the needs of various users of conversational instruction systems were being met, and to consider common practices in languages and documentation. The report describes various languages and support systems in a common frame of reference, and identifies requirements of curriculum authors, students and instruction researchers which are not being met by existing languages. Attached to the report as appendices are six documents which concern: (1) use of terms, (2) aspects of languages and systems, (3) summaries of languages, (4) sample programs, (5) procedures for documentation of programs, and (6) interactive programming languages.
