THE EFFECT OF 14 MEV NEUTRON HEAT DEPOSITION ON Nb3Sn SUPERCONDUCTING TUBES.

Abstract

A Nb3Sn superconductive tube was irradiated with 14 Mev neutrons. The magnetic flux flow was greatly enhanced during the irradiation. Localized hot spots induced by the energetic neutrons are postulated as the mechanism for this enhanced flux flow. A brief description of the experimental apparatus is included; other real and potential neutron irradiation effects on superconductors are discussed. (Author)
