VACUUM TUBE RESEARCH PROJECT.

Abstract

The study of the relation between microwave systems and radio-astronomical processes proceeded to the point of predicting noise radiation from the sun whose level agrees with observed values. The study of the complete three-dimensional analysis of a traveling wave tube with a lossy propagating circuit was continued and some further results are quoted. The program for the study of various ideas for the possible removal of attenuators from traveling wave systems in order to produce higher efficiency amplifiers was concentrated on studies of a backward traveling beam in connection with a normal forward beam and helix propagating structure as a neutralizing system. Analysis of the M-carcinotron was continued.
