VACUUM TUBE RESEARCH PROJECT.

Abstract

A brief description of the status of the work on radio-astronomical processes is given. The study of the complete three-dimensional analysis of a traveling wave tube produced an area of study in which some essential discrepancies exist between the earlier Fletcher-Pierce theory and this field-type analysis. A new type of propagating structure was devised and a working model tube which can handle electron beams of the order of 100 watts CW power at X-band is described. The theory of slipping streams as applied to our theoretical and experimental study of the M-carcinotron was appreciably extended.
