VACUUM TUBE RESEARCH PROJECT.

Abstract

Study of the excitation of plasma oscillations and growing plasma waves was continued with a careful investigation of several interesting effects which were previously noted. A technical report on the formulation of the nonlinear theory of crossed field traveling wave tubes was issued. A theoretical and experimental study of guided wave propagation along cylindrical plasma columns was initiated. Experimentally determined phase velocities are in good agreement with theoretical calculations and these results suggest a new method for measuring electron densities. (Author)
