ANTENNAS WITH ELECTRICAL SCANNING,

Abstract

The article outlines the principle of electrical scanning methods for reflector and plane array antennas, including the use of frequency-change scanning and phase shifters. The advantages and disadvantages of parallel, series parallel and combined methods of connecting phase shifters in a linear system are discussed. A final section outlines problems in electrical scanning and suggests lines of future investigation in such areas as the change in antenna radiation pattern during scanning, possible reductions in the number of radiators required, and in miniaturization problems.
