PRELIMINARY SITE SURVEY FOR OCEAN CONSTRUCTION EXPERIMENTS.

Abstract

A literature survey was conducted to determine suitable sites for the anticipated placement of structures on the sea floor as construction experiments. On the basis of selected site location criteria, five sites are proposed for consideration. These are located near the islands of San Nicolas, Santa Catalina, and San Clemente off the Southern California coast, and near the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai and Hawaii. Available pertinent information on these sites was accumulated and is presented herein. On the basis of this information, it appears that the sites in the Hawaiian Islands are better suited to conduct these experiments than the sites off the California coast. (Author)
