THE WIENER-HOPF FACTORIZATION OF TWO BESSEL FUNCTION EXPRESSIONS.

Abstract

The Wiener-Hopf factorization of two Bessel function expressions is performed. The procedure used replaces the branch cut containing Hankel functions by a ratio of entire functions which, in a suitable limit, approaches the Hankel function ratio. The entire functions are then factored by the infinite product theorem and the limit of the factors taken to give the factors of the Hankel functions. These Bessel function expressions arise in the course of the analysis of the problem of a semi-infinite dipole antenna driven from a coaxial guide by a TE sub 11 mode. The analysis of this problem is the subject of a separate report. (Author)
