ON THERMAL AND MECHANICAL EFFECTS AT SLIDING INTERFACES.

Abstract

This final report concerns investigations on several phases of the project. These are wall effects on non-Newtonian flows, surface displacement on the end of an elastic cylinder, sliding of copper-based sintered material against steel in mineral oil, deformation friction of layered viscoelastic composites, measurement of temperatures due to sliding in vacua, surface temperature transients of rubbing solids, and surface temperatures of layered composites.
