BOUNDARY-LAYER FLOW VISUALIZATION ON SEVERAL SIMULATED FAIRED CABLES HAVING SYMMETRICAL NACA AIRFOIL SECTIONS.
Abstract
The results of fluorescent-oil film, boundary-layer flow visualization studies conducted in a high speed water channel on a series of simulated faired cables are presented and briefly discussed. The simulated faired cables had symmetrical NACA airfoil sections ranging from 20 to 25 percent maximum thickness. The studies covered a range of yaw angles from +5 to -5 degrees, Reynolds' numbers from 500,000 to 1,640,000, and a range of sweep angles. (Author)
