THE EXPANSION OF A SUPERSONIC PARALLEL FLOW INTO A SOURCE FLOW.

Abstract

The use of a primary nozzle followed by a second-stage nozzle to remove diaphragm particles from a shock-heated flow is common in many hypersonic shock tunnel facilities. The purpose of this report is to point out and show how to eliminate a potential source of flow nonuniformity that can arise at the inlet of the second-stage expansion. (Author)
