THE ELECTROSTATIC PROBE IN A REACTING GAS,

Abstract

When a spherical electrode is immersed in a partially ionized gas and is held at a negative potential relative to the distant gas, ions are attracted and electrons are repelled by the electrode, and a current flows. This report reveals the role of ionization and recombination reactions in determining this current. (Author)
