A METHOD FOR PREDICTING SHEDDING OF ICE ACCRETIONS,

Abstract

A BETA computer program is used to calculate the leading edge skin temperature beneath ice accreted on unheated airfoil surfaces, and ice shedding altitudes are determined from the transient temperature profiles. The computer model is developed to allow easy variation of flight and atmospheric conditions. A model 737 empennage section is used to illustrate use of the program. (Author)
