LASERS ON SOLUTIONS OF ORGANIC DYES WITH PULSE LAMP EXCITATION,

Abstract

The laser action characteristics of several organic dye solutions are analyzed experimentally. The dye solution is placed in a quartz or molybdenum cell cylindric in shape, and pumped by two pulsed in-series IFP-1200 lamps 100 mm long and 3-5 mm in internal diameter. The light pulse has a duration of 60 sec. Because of the large stimulated emission coefficient laser generation of dyes requires a much smaller population of excited particles. The three most promising dyes studied were rhodamine C, rhodamine 6G, and pyronine G. A table is prepared for rhodamine 6G, listing the wavelength of the laser beam as a function of the active particle concentration. (Author)
