ON THE THEORY OF ION RESONANCE,

Abstract

The purpose of the paper was to develop a theory for calculating resonant excitation in a plasma. The initial force equation for the influence of an external alternating voltage on an ion plasma is shown. Excitation of ion resonance in a plasma is possible with both electromagnetic and ultrasound frequencies; however, at present, excitation of ion-resonant oscillations with frequencies above 1 GHz 10 (superscript 8) minus 10 (superscript 9) hertz 1 GHz is not technically feasible. It is suggested that this difficulty can be avoided by inserting in the plasma a piezoelectric crystal with specific dimensions.
