THE PREPARATION OF SHOP COMPONENTS DIRECTLY FROM ALUMINUM POWDERS OF GRADES APS-3 AND APS-4,

Abstract

Production techniques for the hot stamping and hot pressing of blanks from APS-1, APS-2, APS-3 and APS-4 aluminum powders were developed. It was established that hot pressing is best carried out with the aluminum powders heated to 600 degrees-630 degrees C in dies with 5-10 degree cones on the outer surface. Hot three-dimensional stamping of briquettes of aluminum powders or hot pressing directly from aluminum powders was chosen on the basis of configuration and dimensions as well as availability of appropriate plant equipment. The use of these methods reduces the over-all production cycle as well as total cost, since aluminum powder is 1/5th the cost of sintered aluminum powder SAP rods.
