LOW ENERGY INTERACTION STUDIES BY A MERGING BEAMS TECHNIQUE.
Abstract
The report presents the results of a study of the charged rearrangement reactions of Na with CO(+) and of K with O2(+), N2(+), NO(+) and CO(+) by a merging beams technique. Cross sections have been determined in the energy range from 0.05 to 10 eV. The cross sections are appreciably smaller than those determined by a mass spectrometric method. Structure in the cross section curve was observed in the CO(+) reactions. An increase in the cross section with increasing energy of the reactants was found to coincide with the transition from a mainly stripping to a mainly rebound reaction. (Author)
