THEORETICAL INVESTIGATION INTO RADIATIVE TRANSFER AND HYDRODYNAMIC MOTIONS IN SPHERICAL STELLAR ATMOSPHERES, AND INTO STEADY SHOCK WAVES IN HYDROGEN.

Abstract

Work under this contract considered a variety of subjects related to the influence of gas dynamic motions on the structure of stellar atmospheres. This report summarizes the topics and provides a guide to the bibliography, dividing the papers into the following categories: (a) Mathematical techniques, (b) Theory of line transfer, (c) Gas dynamics of stellar media, (d) The structure of the solar chromosphere. This work provides the theoretical basis for the systematic development of an increasingly important branch of astrophysics -- the gas dynamics of stellar media. (Author)
