STUDY OF INFRARED ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF POLYMERS BASED ON BISPHENOLS AND FORMALDEHYDE DURING THEIR HARDENING AND THERMAL DEGRADATION,

Abstract

The IR spectra was used to study the processes occurring in polymers based on 1,6-bis(p-oxyphenyl)hexane, 1,8-bis(p-oxyphenyl) octane, 1,10-bis(p-oxyphenyl) decane, and 1,1-bis(p-oxyphenyl) cyclohexane during their hardening and thermal degradation. Polymer specimens were obtained in the form of films on NaC1 plates from a solution in acetone and then were hardened by sequential heating in the temperature interval 70-330 degrees C in a current of nitrogen. The nitrogen significantly reduced the rate of oxidizing processes. (Author)
