NEW CONCEPT AIR/GROUND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine new techniques that might be employed to improve air/ground communications in the automated NAS environment. Areas studied relate to spectrum utilization, channel loading, pilot and controller workloads, air fleet growth, air/ground message requirements, and system operational techniques such as discrete aircraft frequency and frequency pooling concepts. The report contains the functional analysis and results of the mathematical feasibility study, the analysis and description of the communication system and the test bed system, and applicable specifications.
