PROPERTIES OF THE SYSTEM POLYVINYL CHLORIDE + PLASTICIZER,
Abstract
An important condition in obtaining porous polyvinyl chloride (PVC) by the method of saturating the paste with a gas or with low-boiling liquids is the correct selection of the composition of the resin + plasticizer system. The following are necessary properties of such a system: good compatibility of the resin with the plasticizer, stability of the paste during storage, adequate stability of the saturated raw foam in atmospheric conditions, the greatest possible time to the beginning of coalescence of the foam during warm-up, and a high tangent of dielectric loss angle, which is an important factor during high-frequency warm-up of the foam. On the basis of the experimental results it was proposed to evaluate the action of plasticizers on PVC and to select a system which will ensure obtaining a stable foam and a cellular structure of the poroplastic. The following characteristics of polyvinyl chloride pastes were defined: Compatibility of PVC with the plasticizer; Change in viscosity of the paste during storage; Dependence of paste viscosity on temperature; Change in the rheological properties of the paste during the application of shear force in the interval 100-190C; Critical temperature of dissolution of the resin in low-concentration dispersions; Degree of gelatinization and fusion temperature; and Dependence of the tangent of dielectric loss angle on temperature.
