HEAT CAPACITY OF A SUBSTANCE NEAR THE CRITICAL POINT OF LIQUID AND GAS,

Abstract

The presence of extrema of the heat capacity at constant volume, C (subscript v), in the supercritical region is explained by an assumption with respect to the special properties of C (subscript v) at the critical point. The behavior of the jump in the heat capacity on the coexistence curve is discussed. The behavior of C (subscript p) in the supercritical region is analyzed. These investigations make it possible to determine the parameters of the equation of state of a substance near the critical point. (Author)
