THE SUPERREGENERATIVE (SR) AMPLIFIER-LINEAR MODE,

Abstract

The superregenerative (SR) amplifier in the linear mode is analyzed from the point of view of a sampling amplifier using a rectangular quench waveform. Necessary conditions are established such that idealized sampling formulae may be applied to the problem. The analysis is carried thru for both high and low input carrier-to-noise ratios. Explicit design formulae are exhibited for such parameters as SR gain, bandwidths, and signal-to-noise ratios. Comparison is made to a superheterodyne receiver in terms of output signal-to-noise ratios for two particular cases of interest. (Author)
