NATURE OF THE TRANSITION STATE IN THE OXIDATION OF ALCOHOLS.

Abstract

An investigation of a few typical oxidation reactions is briefly summarized. The objective of the research was to enhance the understanding of the rate limiting step. The original plan was to investigate the chromium (VI) oxidation of alcohols, but the study was extended to olefinic compounds, and contributed to the understanding of the oxidation of the double bond as well as to the nature of hydrogen transfer reactions.
