DEVICE FOR STABILIZING LUBRICATING OIL,

Abstract

This patent describes an apparatus used in stabilizing lubricating oil for, say, motors. This apparatus consists of a housing with nozzles for addition or removal of the oil together with the solid granules of the oxidation inhibitor present in it. To facilitate the contact between the oil and the inhibitor and to prevent the breakdown of the granules, a distributor tube is placed on the axis of the housing. This tube contains annular chambers and cartridges for the inhibitor. To enhance the degree of purification and to form a protective film upon the surface of the friction surfaces, the annular chambers and cartridges are enclosed together with the filter-dispenser in a sheathing made of hygroscopic material saturated with a solution of halides in organic solvents, such as iodine in benzene.
