OV5-9 FINAL TECHNICAL REPORT,

Abstract

The OV5-9 Satellite is designed to measure the energetic particles and X-rays emitted by the sun during solar particle events. A secondary mission is to study the trapped electrons and protons near synchronous altitudes. These measurements will be carried out in an elliptical orbit so that data will be obtained outside the magnetosphere as well as inside. Thus, penetration of particles into the magnetosphere, and especially to synchronous altitudes, will be measured. (Author)
