LARGE GLUED-LAMINATED TIMBER BEAMS WITH TWO GRADES OF TENSION LAMINATIONS.

Abstract

Bending strength of 26 glued-laminated timbers were appraised as a basis for more precise design. Part of the beams were manufactured according to present AITC and lumber industry specifications, while the other beams had improved tension laminations. When tested to failure, 11 beams failed at end joints and 15 in the wood. (Author)
