METHOD OF LUBRICATING THE SURFACE OF ALUMINUM OR ITS ALLOYS DURING EXTRUSION,

Abstract

Lubricating aluminum or its alloy during pressing with the use of a lubricant on the base of aliphatic compound. In order to improve the lubricant (to avoid cracks on the surface) a layer of salts of fatty acids, containing 10-20 carbon atoms in a molecule, covers the treated piece, with subsequent application of another layer for example mineral oil, animal or vegetable fat or their mixture. The best surface is obtained by using animal fats and high molecular compounds of synthetic fatty acids as outer layer. Pressing soft alloy AV, AK6 wax or paraffine can be used as inner layer, and spinner oil for outer layer.
