THE ENHANCEMENT OF ANTENNA IMAGES.

Abstract

Data processing can improve or 'sharpen' the output of a scanning antenna system using the theory of restoration and enhancement. The paper reviews the theory of restoration and explains the theory of enhancement, which matches an autocorrelation function covering the extended spatial frequency range to the restored data without using extrapolation or analytic continuation. The theory is tested using experimental data of solar maps taken by a 28 foot dish at a wavelength of 8 mm. (Author)
