HEURISTICS OF ELECTRODYNAMIC QUANTUM THEORY.

Abstract

A new, physical interpretation of de Broglie waves is suggested. It is assumed that every elementary charged particle is the source, not only of a coulomb field, but also of a monochromatic radiation field with frequency determined by the de Broglie relation. On the basis of this single assumption, and with appeal only to general properties of electromagnetic fields, qualitative explanations are given for all the main features of quantum theory. (Author)
