MASS SPECTROMETRIC STUDY OF IONIC SPECIES.

Abstract

A mass spectrometric effort was initiated which focuses on the development of advanced concepts in instrumentation, and in the utilization of mass spectrometric analysis for basic studies in ion physics. Included in the report is the development of a new concept for surface-ionization and diffusion sources, basic data relating to high temperature diffusion in metals, and the initiation of a totally new program in inhomogeneous ion optics. With respect to mass spectrometer detectors, p-n junctions have also been successfully tested and developed with associated circuitry. (Author)
