SEVERAL KINDS OF ATOMIC ROCKETS,

Abstract

The author discusses five types of atomic powered rockets: engines utilizing the atomic energy produced by atomic nuclear fission reactions; engines utilizing the direct heating of propellants by fission materials in the combustion chamber; engines utilizing the acceleration of ions by electric or magnetic fields; engines with ballistic tubes; and engines utilizing electric arc to heat propellants.
