SOME PROBLEMS IN USING MULTIFREQUENCY ELEMENTS FOR EXCHANGING DIGITAL INFORMATION,

Abstract

At present, video-pulse channels are used for interconnecting digital computers for purposes of joint operation; data transmission is performed by a parallel code, which requires the number of channels and switching elements equal to the number of digits in the data. The potentialities of a multifrequency information-coding system are considered; this system would have the following advantages: (1) Simultaneous transmission of all digits over one line; (2) Address and digit selections can be performed by passive filters; (3) One logic element can process and store all digits of the number in question.
