METHOD OF OBTAINING NONFLAMMABLE FIBERS, FILMS, AND FABRICS BASED ON POLYVINYL ALCOHOL,

Abstract

Non-flammable films, fibres, and fabrics, based on polyvinyl alcohol, can be produced by treating them with phosphorus oxychloride. A more up to date method is to dehydrate them and then treat with bis-(alkyl)-phosphites (e.g., diethyl phosphonate).
