A FERRITE-DIODE CONTROL MACHINE FOR AUTOMATIC TRACKING SYSTEMS,

Abstract

A machine designed for use in automatic control systems and for solving a broad class of mathematically formulated problems in navigation, geodesy, and astronomy is described. The digital control machine can be used independently as a computer or as a computing and controlling unit in a system which automatically controls objects or processes. The computing arrangement in the machine is of series action. The digital matrix has 25 binary units. From the standpoint of command structure the machine is a two-address system. The operating principle of the machine is described including the 16 operations which it performs. A block diagram of the entire system is presented and discussed. The following individual units are described in detail and associated block and circuit diagrams are also presented: control unit, arithmetical unit, storage system, magnetic working memory system, input-output device, control panel, and power supply unit.
