THE COMPOSITION OF THE 'BLACK CHROME' ELECTROLYTIC DEPOSIT,

Abstract

It is shown that the chromium content in the 'black chrome' deposit increases with increasing fluoride-ion content in the electrolyte. The hypothesis is advanced that the additional phase in the deposits represents a compound of intermediate reduction of hexavalent chromium, perhaps oxides of variable composition. (Author)
