MIXING OF WATER IN THE NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN (Peremeshivanie Vod v Severnoi Chasti Tikhogo Okeana),

Abstract

Calculated results of convective, wind-induced, and thermohaline water mixing in the North Pacific Ocean are briefly discussed. The results make it possible to appraise the thickness of the mixed surface layer in various regions of the investigated water area, and to trace the seasonal transformation of this water layer. The calculation of wind-induced mixing makes it possible to compare the convective and wind-induced mixing in various regions of the North Pacific Ocean. (Author)
