A GENERALIZED STUDY OF EA1F AIRCRAFT BRIDLE SHED MECHANISMS,

Abstract

A study of bridle shedding phenomena is undertaken for the launching of the EA1F aircraft with steam catapult systems. A theoretical analysis is made of the basic mechanics of shedding phenomena, and the dynamics of the aircraft coupled to the catapult system in an effort to provide a base for interpreting several experimental studies underway. Various recommendations are given for improving the catapult system to reduce the probability of bridle shedding. (Author)
