GRAPHITIZED MATERIALS,

Abstract

The development of the Soviet industry of graphitized materials and of the present state-of-the-art is reviewed. The important technical properties of the materials, the production, the availability of raw materials and the modern trend in the R and D are discussed. Combinations of graphitized materials with other elements, such as silicon, boron, some metals, and with synthetic resins are mentioned. The level of the production of graphitized materials is indicative of the industrial potential of country; the Soviet industry of these materials has reached the world level now. The history of this development is told briefly in the post-war decades. (Author)
