STARK BROADENED PROFILES OF THE HYDROGEN LINES H(alpha) AND H(gamma) AS A FUNCTION OF TEMPERATURE AND DENSITY.

Abstract

The Stark-broadened line profiles of the H(alpha) and H(gamma) lines of hydrogen are tabulated as a function of density and temperature. Lower state broadening is considered and the Lorentz-Weisskopf estimate for the strong collisions is included in the free-electron impact broadening operator. The halfwidths given by these profiles are within the experimental errors of the measured values. (Author)
