Abstract

To reduce the shrinkage defects in the central part of the ingot and to eliminate the 'rhombic appearance' and internal cracks caused by the action of drawing rolls, the ingot sides entering the rolls may be provided with depressions and the other sides with protrusions produced by appropriate design of the mold.
