EFFECT OF CERTAIN FERROCENE DERIVATIVES ON POLYETHYLENE FILM DURING IRRADIATION BY UV LIGHT,

Abstract

Investigated are ferrocenes for possible use as light-stabilizers of polyethylene. In order to clarify the possibility of using certain ferrocene derivatives to stabilize polyolefin films against the effect of UV radiation, the stabilized films have been subjected to UV. In this work ferrocenes containing benzoyl, acetyl, and alkyl groups were investigated. The course of light aging of the polyethylene films was determined according to the change in carbonyl group content (by IR absorption spectra) and also in terms of solubility and quantity of insoluble gel.
