OPTIMAL PURSUIT IN THE HORIZONTAL PLANE,

Abstract

The problem of the optimal in high-speed pursuit of a target moving uniformly and rectilinearly in a horizontal plane is investigated. The control functions are the engine thrust and the deflection angle of the rudders. All the parameters determining the initial relative position and velocity of pursuer and target are given. Natural physical limitations were superimposed on the control functions; in the process of solution it was assumed, however, that boundary values are not reached. (Author)
